During a routine service treatment for a new Home Protection Plan client in Princeton, NJ, I noticed nothing interesting underneath the patio area — a paper wasp nest! Paper wasps are social wasps that have the slender “wasp” waist and long legs most people associate with wasps. They may be brown, reddish-brown, or black and yellow in color. These insects gather fibers from plant material, mix it with their saliva, and make nests that appear to be made from “papery” material. Although they aren't aggressive, they WILL attack anything that comes within close proximity to their nest. Fortunately, I caught this nest at its beginning stages. First, I applied a direct-contact application to the nest that will rapidly exterminate the paper wasps. Next, I carefully removed the nest and properly disposed of it. Finally, to prevent the paper wasps from rebuilding their nest, I applied a liquid residual to the area.Paper Wasp Nest Found and Removed in Princeton, NJ
