After the maintenance team of a community in Somerset, NJ was attacked and stung by several hornets, the property manager called Cowleys and I was sent out to investigate and treat. When I arrived, the property manager showed me the area in question, which was marked off by caution tape and close to the sidewalk. As I took a closer look, I identified the stinging insects as bald-faced hornets. Although it was a wise idea to tape off the area, this will not prevent the bald-faced hornets from stinging anyone that they deem a threat to their nest! Being that the nest was located in a high traffic area of the community, this was a dangerous situation that required immediate attention! First, I grabbed my extendable pole and injected an aerosol application directly into the opening of the nest. After several moments, I then applied a liquid product. Both of these applications will almost immediately exterminate the bald-faced hornets. Once the bald-faced hornet activity ceased, I removed the basketball-sized nest, and the branch it was attached to, and disposed of them properly.
